[Probably not such a] Naughty Boy, Sam Smith - La la la (Lyrics / Lyric Video / Letra) #songlyricsunday

7clouds videos are awesome - along with Rachel Reyes - they are my first choice for videos which emphasise lyricism.

and here come the words [thought NOT the style!] for my choice of #songlyricsunday for 5 January 2020:

[Intro] Na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na (Tu meri mauja hain) [Verse 1] Hush, don't speak When you spit your venom, keep it shut I hate it When you hiss and preach About your new messiah cause your theories catch fire [Bridge] I can't find your silver lining I don't mean to judge But when you read your speech, it's tiring Enough is enough [Hook] I'm covering my ears like a kid When your words mean nothing, I go la la la I'm turning up the volume when you speak Cause if my heart can't stop it, I'll find a way to block it, I go Na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na (I found a way to block it, I go) La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na [Verse 2] If our love is running out of time I won't count the hours, rather be a coward When our words collide I'm gonna drown you out before I lose my mind [Bridge] I can't find your silver lining I don't mean to judge But when you read your speech, it's tiring Enough is enough [Hook] I'm covering my ears like a kid When your words mean nothing, I go la la la I'm turning up the volume when you speak Cause if my heart can't stop it I'll find a way to block it, I go Na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na (I found a way to block it, I go) La la na na , la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na (I found a way to block it, oh) Na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na (I found a way to block it, I go) La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na (Tu meri mauja hain) I'm covering my ears like a kid When your words mean nothing, I go la la la I'm turning up the volume when you speak Cause if my heart can't stop it I find a way to block it, I go I'm covering my ears like a kid When your words mean nothing, I go la la la I'm turning up the volume when you speak (when you speak) Cause if my heart can't stop it I find a way to block it, I go Na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na La la na na, la la la la la na na na na na (Tu meri mauja hain)

And then I realise there's a reason that YouTube does that when it comes to lyrics - or the 7clouds people did what they did.

When I was a little girl I discovered author Dorothy Edwards and illustrator Shirley Hughes for the first time in a simple novel / anecdote format - the series My naughty little sister.

It was one of my first conscious trips to a beach house; subject to a friend from the civil service.

So in the best traditions, or perhaps defiant/oblivious of these same traditions, I wrecked the entertainment room with Trivial Pursuit cards all over the floor.

The outdoor landscape of that beach house though! It had a big tree at the back. I was trying to trust trees and treehouses again after I had a nasty splinter at home walking on the top of the house [my treehouse had two floors] and it was on my foot. I remember going on the porch to get the splinter out with a needle.

Some three weeks before [12 December 1990] the wonders of the video cassette recorder were revealed to me and one of my very first picks was Pippi Longstocking which was a highly musical version and vivid. I had read the Astrid Lindgren books first in the library especially Pippi in the South Sea Islands with my grandparents so I knew the Ville Villa Kuella.

And Scrubbing Day was incredible - so was Running Away and the whole The First Noël feeling when Pippi and friends came to the orphanage. I loved the Head Girl - the first I recognised as Head Girl. I had not even read Blyton school stories yet in January 1991 - that pleasure was to be some eight months away with Elizabeth Allen and The naughtiest girl in the school.

I too had been considered - one of - the naughtiest girls in my school. I think of Hermoine Granger and that scene in the film of The Philosopher's / Sorcerer's Stone.

That witch really needs to sort out her priorities! - Ron Weasley - Harry and Hermoine's friend

One of the naughty things I did was blow on another student's whistle with the residue of a frozen ice. I did not quite have the mens rea involved [guilty mind in Latin] because I wanted to know how Melisande's whistle worked and if it had nuts in it like the Physical Education teacher's whistle did. The Phys Ed teacher was yet another champion of mine - and a broker into the system. Some years later on she would have us learn and support Italian lessons. And because of this she was a really strong connector - especially when it came to a question on Copernicus/Kopernik when we were studying the stars and astronomy.

Love La la la because it has the idea of preach speech in it and it has been so popular in so many countries.

Here is a quote that shows what I [and Beverley Eley] mean by PREACH SPEECH - it is also a good introduction to a book which showed me so much about biographical craft and graft - The book of David - it is also good for anyone who wants to know It's all right to be different:

[... earlier there was something about Democritus and the atom in that paragraph]Not only is his memory phenomenal, his wit is dry and clever. One day he walked into a conversation about homilies, proverbs and adages. After patting and kissing those close at hand [my emphasis], he walked away with the comment, 'Preach speech ... it's preach speech'.
By what yardstick do we measure someone like the eccentric, yet greatly gifted, David Helfgott? [says Eley on page 7 of The book of David in its 5th printing from 1997]
Eley and Helfgott [David and Gillian] are very good friends and her biographical practice is exemplary. Hoping the Gleniffer house where she and her husband John [who The book of David is dedicated to - for being someone who BELIEVES IN LOYALTY FRIENDSHIP AND JUSTICE - if books were tablets and stones - they would be carved in like that] is okay and the land too. That land is called the Promised Land and again Eley and David Helfgott are neighbours.

Had a great time watching Marianne and Leonard - words of love - so many people came by including in groups. Of course So long Marianne is a very important song. And Marianne was such a very generous and kind person. I think of Axel who is over 60 now and was only 6 months old when Leonard Cohen came into his Hydra life - in all my years I had never heard it pronounced like that so I could imitate it and reference it. Shows you how few of my resources are Greek. And the archivist really made the film, I do believe. I would sell the farm on it. Along with Broomfield of course who had a connection - intimate connection - with Ihlen from Oslo [and Paris and London and Hydra and one more place]

What did I want to talk about with the Naughty Little Sister and my experience?

When she was in a school choir one day; she and her friend Bad Harry la la la la'ed to the Christmas carols particularly Away in a manger which was the very first Christmas carol I connected with in 1985-86. Another early one was The first Noël - ten years later I connected so hard I named a character Noelle. She belongs to the gaggle of Gilberts - the five who were born on a student exchange. [and, yes, that is five at the same time in the same caul so to speak!]

And then I remember the Blubber singing lessons in Judy Blume - especially Miss Rochelle - great name for a musical person. My 1999 self thought this too - one of the times she and my 1994 self were in agreement [the former self was the one who read the book for the first time - and she was up for it six months later when she was sick and the world didn't make sense - she also enjoyed Paul Jennings' Quirky Tales where Linda thought salt was sugar and sugar was salt and No was yes]. So there was a young girl called Rochelle who absolutely loved music and was a flower girl. And then there was breathing and melody and harmony which I confess I really did not get until Grizel Cochrane had lost her harmony book in The head girl of the Chalet School which came with me in a Lion King bag along with a manuscript - that one was about a student called Tadeusz Meliński who studied temporarily at the London Progressive College. I got quite far in the writing of Educating Tadeusz laying and paving the ground [like crazy paving in my last].

Yours truly has also discovered Music from Ceefax which is the British Broadcasting Corporation teletext service. Especially looking for ocean music and ship music and sea shanties. After I watched Little Women in the Greta Gerwig mode and went to a park and a public house, I found many of them. It was when I became sick of Scouting and Guiding songs around the campfire and the Jamboree setting that I wanted to find some sea songs.

Many of you who have read Blubber will remember that Jill Brenner was quite the stamp collector - and she knew how to bargain and broker and write good letters. What she was not so good at doing was keeping her nails tidy and unbitten. Now nerves will do that to any person - and she was carrying around the sort of nervery which would make an animal pace and scratch and do various other displacement behaviours.

People often feel misplaced and displaced too. Especially when they feel their love is running out of time and that their words mean nothing.

Hope your lives feel Funktastic this week and for the Epiphany tomorrow. Imagine that - the first Monday of 2020!

Finally deck the halls with boughs of holly fa la la la la.

La la la  was released at the Jingle Bell Ball of 2013 and subsequently charted in many nations. And it had so many remixes - I chose the Sam Smith one because it had lots of resonance and was best-known perhaps ...

In Australia it peaked at number five; hit number one in the Commonwealth of Independent States chart as it did in the Czech Republic; number two in Denmark and Germany; number six in France; and it's probably time to point out the Hungarian charts and their genre diversity as well as media diversity [stream and radio]. A lot of central European nations [Poland too] have their dance charts and in this La la la came out 9th in Poland and 6th in Hungary. Seems the Romanians loved it and put it on number 1. Top 15 in Venezuela - 14th actually - awesome!

The US charts were much more mixed. Somehow the Brits bought more than a million copies. At least two charts showed top 20 and one was actually 10th. The Rhythmic seems open for debate.

And when hearts can't stop it they find a way to block it.

Trying to block this earworm [though I don't want to so it will stay] of La La Land which I think many of my #songlyricsunday companions and compeers have chosen.

Mary K. Pershall #rcmentalhealth

Mary K Pershall

[twenty-six minutes into the hour - twenty minutes after JM] Pershall begins.

She has an American accent of course. [she grew up in Iowa? Idaho?]

“Mrs Pershall you made a statement to the Royal Commission”.

She talks about the exposure to the mental health system in Victoria through her daughter Anna.

Sit forward a little bit! Commissioners need to hear!

She is 30 [turning 31 this year/2019] - she has a really good relationship with her family and has positive work.

Dame Phyllis [Frost] Centre is a maximum security prison.

She killed someone.

Commissioner asks about Anna’s early years - and early childhood. Signs and symptoms.

Before she went to school she was a delightful and happy child who looked like a little fairy - she was off with the fairies.

She never begged people for toys - she asked for re-runs of the Addams family.

She wanted a hand that got things for you.

She was surprised when Anna asked for this thing.

Anna hated school from the beginning. She had been so happy before school.

After school she would cry.

Partly because she preferred to imagine things in the backyard with Duplo characters and she didn’t like being told what to do in a structured environment.

They didn’t appreciate her spider fantasies - she would prattle on - the children isolated and ostracised her.

She wasn’t physically bullied the Pershalls didn’t take it seriously [there is Mary and Katie her elder sister and maybe a father].

Being shut off the group was a hard thing for Anna’s development brain.

In early high school everyone else was trying to fit in. Anna tried to be happy.

Her family wanted her to smile and be happy at home.

When she was 14 [2002] she restricted her intake of food. Mary didn’t take too much - she has beautiful skin and didn’t want acne and had always been skinny.

Anorexia was around body image - Anna had never been concerned.

Watermelon and diet Pepsi was her diet - she agreed to go to the paed in the RCH.

Her condition was compromised - her heart was on a monitor at night. It was a shock!

She was treated as an outpatient until she was 18 and received excellent care and Mary is grateful to the health system.

She was seen once a week and the doctor is still in contact. For an hour each time - she was protective of that relationship and valued it highly.

She saw a RCH counsellor. [thirty-three minutes into the hour - seven minutes after the start]

Her teens were not trouble-free. She did find a friend and she was very attached to this friend - she would do anything to keep this friend on side.

She and her friend were walking down the street. Enraged Anna so much that the friend was paying attention to someone else

She kicked a thick plate glass window and the police called twice.

Anna had been train-surfing to impress this friend.

Setting boundaries was a message to Pershall - the counsellor was a support to John and Mary - especially the train surfing incident.

Anna is putting her life at risk - she is staying up most of the night. She was 16.

The summer before she went into year 11.

You have to go to bed at 2130 or 2200 - she agreed - Mary was uneasy.

There was a roll of bedding to look like a body - Anna had run away at 2300.

“Teenage runaway”

She had lived with her friends dad on the other side of the river with her friend.

She returned in time to begin year 11.

Pershall talks about those couple of years at uni which were her best.

She went to a senior secondary college and made more friends who appreciated her individuality intelligence and quirky sense of humour.

She went to university to study psychology and met a devoted young man. They still love each other to this day.

She became so sick that it didn’t work out.

They had hope that when she had been in so much pain - as she matured they hope it would get easier for her.

Third year of university - she started to say that people didn’t like her at university any more and it was too hard.

“Just get your degree - I won’t nag you to do anything else,” said her father.

Expected by family and others to get a job or do her studies [postgraduate].

She just didn’t know how to be an adult. [Let her be the kid she could never be!]

Promised her they wouldn’t nag her - she was still living with the boyfriend and the mother.

And they moved into the boyfriends’ house.

She stopped living with him. He still adored her-he couldn’t do anything with her.

Intelligent girl with a good vocabulary. Our tools were words; do this; try this.

We realised she was deteroriating with acholo and drugs.

She moved back when she was 24 - the extent of her a[lcohol] and d[rug use].

She didn’t have a glass of wine at night with her family.

It was mostly synthetic cannabis and she smoked bong after bong.

She moved home after a year living that kind of life until she was 25-ish?

She had a few markers - auditory and visual hallucinations - childhood fantasies?

Mental health was always fragile.

Cannaboids were very harmful to her brain.

An activity - getting dressed up and going on the train. That was one activity she enjoyed.

She looked a lot younger than she was - a size 14 child’s dress in Kmart.

She put on lots of makeup and was very attractive and her method was to talk to random guys and start a conversation.

They would give her drugs and attention and she would live with them.

John and Mary and Katrina wouldn’t know where she was.

She would be gone for days.

Towards the end of 2013 a man gave her ice on the train.

It was a terrible period - she came back a few days later in a very fearful state.

Look what this guy has done to me - cigarette burns.

Self-injury and she really liked ice and this guy.

She rang in a distress state - he’s holding me captive. I went to a neighbour’s house.

She was 95 kilometres away.

She went back to him a few days later.

He was going to kill her? That was the Pershall worry.

They could not restrain her - she had to let go.

Katie was the sister - calling the police - trying to get help through the mental health system.

Attach the words mental health to Anna - alleviate her pain they did their best.

She was slipping away further and further - there was no way to help her.

Reached out again to Dr D - hooked in with systems.

[So I missed about ten minutes of the livestream].

There is something about a box of knives and sharp edges. It is a constant strain.

December 2014 she was using ice - she couldn’t live in the home any longer.

She was scheduled to detox - she would get the maximum amount if she went blotto - for the 3rd time.

She would hook up with people on the Internet and dating sites so people could see her - they were drug addicts.

When was he going to come back?

Scary to be afraid in your own home.

They were apprehensive of her - Katie received calls that the parents were replaced by imposters.

These evil incarnations - [is this splitting?]

She was headed off to detox and met a guy for the weekend and smoking a lot of ice.

Someone rang and accused of horrible things. They had it they were exhausted.

You can’t live with us any more - the last time she was in the Pershall house.

She was admitted to a locked psychiatric ward - she couldn’t control herself and the Pershalls couldn’t.

3 hours later - she was in the emergency ward - she was picked up naked in a service station in Footscray.

They tracked down the service station and the nice young man who had been on duty - she walked in and asked if she could use the restroom and was totally naked.

And stripped by the door and was seen by people working at the service station and people used it.

There were gangs after Anna who would take her - yet she wanted to be in the ward which she was for one week.

She was transferred later on to an involuntary ward - they had a plan to put her there after a while.

As soon as she got into the ward. She was picked up by an older man and she was taken away - they had no say and it was such a disappointment; they were horrified.

“Why weren’t we involved?" She wasn’t capable of making a decision - the guy took her for that reason - he was a security guide.

He was known through a carers’ group - hours of respite so John and Mary had time to themselves.

Then the older man and Anna had a romantic relationship.

Saturday night in the middle of winter - very angry about not being able to go home.

DIdn’t speak to Mary for a few weeks - neither did Jim.

In the emergency ward again - admitted under the Mental Health Act.

If you meet her there you will be able to see her. Mary was excited because she would see Anna again.

the SG said it’s not visiting hours? You’re not allowed here?

Mary had to go away - nothing she could do - one more disappointment.

Flash forward a few days: when she went to the psychiatric ward during visiting hours.

There was lots of coughing and microphone feedback.

There was a guy on shift and got to know Anna - secure psychiatric care - he would do anything and everything she could.

What a predicament - she couldn’t look after herself.

“I need to stay here. I need the help they are giving” the PiC - “you can’t have a bed just because you want it”.

Go to a boarding house - go to Jim’s place. Things were stolen at boarding houses and Anna felt unsafe for that reason.

the PiC that night - “Can’t you keep her?”

“If you care so much about your daughter, why don’t you take her home”?

Mary had other people to consider - Jim had to kick her out.

Briefly describe the time Anna lived at the older gentleman’s house - the man who ended up being killed.

She had an endless supply of guys she knew - they met at detox - he knew a place in the outer suburbs - older man sublet his rooms - Anna ended up there.

It was an interesting place - it was in disarray - a vibrant community around this older man.

Mary came to know the O[lder]M[an] quite well. He had a lot of very close friends who spent time in the kitchen watching SBS and yelling in various tongues and drinking lots of sweet white wine.

Mary mentions in her statement - how many times the guys called the police to stop Anna attacking them?

It was at least twice that she knows about. They called the police - they didn’t retaliate.

She’d shown - she could be strong and violent - that window when she was an anorexic teenager.

She had this powerful anger - she wanted this house when she was quite stable - she wanted the guys to clean it- she got violent when she wouldn’t.

Mary got to know the guys - this girl doesn’t need to be arrested, said one guy.

She didn’t receive any treatment - Anna herself spoke about being afraid of her violent outbursts.

She called Mary - ‘I can’t believe it Mum” - she said his name - what am I going to do? - she knew she wasn’t in control of herself.

We couldn’t get it and she couldn’t get it.

22 November 2015

Anna was pregnant - four months pregnant - she had really tried to do the right thing because she wanted the baby and to get healthy.

She tried not to drink or do drugs.

Lots of voices in her head - synthetic marijuana - they told her awful things and never went away.

Alcohol and prescription medication too - she tried not to use these substances.

She ran out of weed and cigarettes.

Katie did her prescriptions for Anna - she never used it as it was supposed to - she did take it to sleep.

Her brain just imploded.

A call from the police - expected a “dead call”.

It was a “killed someone else’ call.

That time on she has been in custody the last three and a half years as of July 2019.

She serves 17 years - 13 years non-parole.

“As it turns out that prison life is better for Anna than I hoped”.

Partly because she has structure imposed on her.

High dose of antipsychotics and Lithium and antidepressants.

She feels she is actually learning to have relationships.

No-one asks her about her drivers licence or jobs - she does prison jobs.

She can work on how to get along with other people.

The relationship we all have - she can relate to her sister as a sister rather than as a carer.

She could never have a conversation - she talks about her interests. Wait and try to bring her out.

And she is very well-liked in prison and they get help with various English assignments.

Given your experience - what changes do you see necessary? [commissioner question]

Think about children and they can actually have a mental illness - it didn’t occur at the time.

Quiet children who don’t demand attention. - when they get into crisis there is an approach where families can be listened to.

They were never listened to or consulted.

Dismissed as drama queens - exaggerating the extent of Anna’s problems.

As a family there should have been much better accomodation - crisis and longer in a secure environment.

Strange people and getting drunk.

Stabilise and rational decisions.

Anna will always need support to be an active contributing member of our society.

Other people in her position - it will cost a lot of money.

A lot of money to be in prison because of similar issues.

Pershall is excused.

Commissioner question:

Dual diagnosis of mental illness and addiction - what would improve in these scenarios?

Three years ago when they were trying to get help they found it extremely frustrating that they tried to get her in the residential centre for those with addictions; she as turned away because she had mental illness.

She found a place in a park and she was relieved. She got a few residential weeks of care.

She might not have enough Seroquel - she stuffed it into her underpants.

Against the rules - you can’t be here.

She was turned away from both places because of the thing they didn’t treat.

May the witness be excused?

Lunch break. [fifteen minutes at the top of the next hour].

“This has incredible value” ... something every family member and carer should know

Prologue here:

Dictee is important. Yes; even if you're deaf or dyslexic. It's an element of the French and Francophone system which doesn't ever seem to go away. It was particularly helpful for me today this Bastille Day weekend - if nothing else it keeps a student or a person occupied, and thus in good mental health and occupational therapy.

I have been working on oral histories like Alexievich's Secondhand Time [2016] and Recording Oral History: a guide for the humanities and social sciences ed3 from Raleigh Yow [2015].

You’re not just there to supplement or replace the Government.

“Struggle without their presence - or significant contribution”.

What matters to carers? this is what today is about.

How to recognise and support the contribution.

Planning for the future - growing and ageing population.

Diminishing presence in lives and communities a difficult question for many to consider.

The role of young carers - how will they be best supported?

The impact will be profound.

I wonder if Rebecca Thomas is just such a young carer? Or is she a more traditional one?

Carers spoke about the rewards of their caring roles - sharing a deep personal bond.

How hard it can be - relentless and ongoing.

The need to be recognised; respected; assessment; treatment.

Requirements in legislation and the value of sharing information.

Connection to supports and services which respond to the breadth of loved ones’ needs.

Repeating information - justice; education; housing; health services.

Supports for carers too specifically to help.

Excessive expectations from a pressured system - their loved one is home too soon.

A range of different prospects: Rebecca Thomas has a family with multi-generational issues.

She cared for her mother first. Teenage and adult years - later on she cared for her two brothers - one brother died from suicide earlier in 2019.

She is part of the support network for her family and other people.

RT is under a RPO.

Rose Cuff - state-wide co-ordinator for parents with a mental illness - FAPNE - how people come to be carers for their parents.

Jessie Morgan - carer for his mum. He is 25 years old - has been caring for mother since 14 - cooking; shopping; part-time work; going to school. He had no supports or help with those things. Consequences for schooling - set him back.

His caring role was always his priority. He has his own mental

Mary Pershall - she will talk about Anna. Anna needed a lot of help when she was very young - she did get a stable treatment environment even if she was imprisoned for it. 17-year sentence for manslaughter

Margaret Leggatt - Wellways Australia - we fight to get their e-mails. She talks about schizophrenia [like Anna has - she probably has schizoaffective disorder].

John Murray and Kate - parents of a daughter who had an eating disorder. Speak of their joint experiences. Journey from teenager to adult. Pen-name RPO [restricted publication order].

#31for21 #internationaldayofthegirl Dream Gaps and Mustangs FC and girls who have changed my world/life #mentalhealthweek

Hello everyone. It's the International Day of the Girl this 11 October 2017.

One group which really promoted this was PLAN International. From the 11th to the 18th girls and young women are taking over Parliament and offices and well ... anywhere that boys and men are.

Did you know that twice as many girls consider themselves shy as they do bossy?

And that the place girls feel most unequal and excluded is in sport?

When I watched the first episode of Mustangs FC which is about a Queensland under-15 team and Marnie and Liv in particular - as well as their teammates - I thought about that.

There is a concept that a lot of people are labouring with known as the Dream Gap - the gap between who you currently are and who you aspire to be. Or what society and other people will let you be and what you want/need to go.

I am very fond of the roundball game.

It was good to see Ella and her interest in rhythmic gymnastics. There was another sport they forgot. It was calisthenics - the Australian version is full of dancing, gymnastics and games. Not so unrelated to the Greek gymnasium version.

And sparkles and sequins were part of Liv's thinking process as well when she and Marnie were discussing team life and #squadgoals.

It was wonderful to see Haruna who is a Deaf Muslima - like Jemina Aslana from Denmark whose Tumblrs were some of the first I would read from that platform in 2010.

And Anusha who does so many things like Cambodian Orphanage Volunteering training. She is able to find a 50-minute spot and she isn't afraid to take the Wildcats on.

The Wildcats - the other girls' team - take on some predatory practices. Especially Michaela.

Danny eventually becomes the Mustangs' coach. He has been in at least one World Cup.

[And wasn't the Australia - Syria game great? And Iceland being in the World Cup? a few other European nations fell into place - and there are some intercontinentals].

Marnie's mother is an important person. Marnie suggested that she go online dating, and she meets Kevin and his daughter Ella. The mother and Kevin [this thing about mothers not being in photos nor us being able to remember their names] rent together and Ella comes every second week.

Kevin and Ella also come to the Mustangs - Wildcats game.

There is a real-life football programme about the under-13s Victorian State Development Squad on ABCME and we see these people match up and develop themselves and stay out of injury hell and work on their own timelines.

By the end of the year you know that you have a passion. And you know where your Dream Gaps are.

A player many admire is Lisa de Vanna. Others include Sam Kerr and Evie van Egmond.

Watch out for that van Egmond name. Evie's aunt runs an indoor football place.

And I remembered about Gabe. He plays Qatar at the end of the Mustangs FC while Marnie plays Australia. And he is able to give them good red kit even after what he said about "boob dents".

I also liked the petition/recruitment scene.

Here's where you can read the DREAM GAP report

Girls change the world

Advice to my 12-year-old self

So awkward - I found the Two Mrs Hamptons episode great as the grandmother won a Royal Society award for scientific discovery

I think the "so awkward" friends would be Lily, Martha and Jas. It is Lily's grandmother who is in an old photo and she is a very fine scientist.

Made me think of Taylor who is the grandmother of the Raymond sisters - Fran; Maddy; Amelie and Josie - and Bene and Freddie. {yes, it's seven and a half years ago he died}.

I also sort of liked the idea of keeping yourself young by referring to an advisor.

Speaking of people who are filling their own Dream Gaps and those of others:

one of these is Sarah Savage Cooley. She wrote this series of Selected Essays.

Sarah Savage Cooley the journalist and poet and essayist

And Taylor Anderton the swimmer who is based in the Gold Coast. The short-course championships are coming up in Geelong shortly - and there will be some record-breaking efforts.

International Swimming Championships

In May 2016 she and Michael Cox were at this debutant ball.

Down Syndrome Swimming Australia

And that reminds me of Kate o'Donnell who had been on the Footy Almanac several times.
